History of Marathon Motorcars...

There were approximately 10,000 automobiles produced from 1904 to about 1914 at the Marathon Motor Works Company in Nashville, Tennessee. The Drawings of these automobiles were created from photographs taken of two of the last seven Marathon automobiles known to exist. The 2-door automobile was called a Marathon "Roadster". The 4-door automobile is a Marathon Touring Sedan called the “Runner”. The line drawings Dave Created are shown on the left.  Wegee enjoyed drawing this piece of history

Only a few photographs of the Champion were found in the archives of the local newspaper. The black and white photo of the Fire Chief had to be redrawn over and over again and then reversed to be seen from the passenger side.  Then the chief had to be moved to the opposite side of the seat exchanging positions with the driver. But that’s not all.  More research was needed to find a photo of the Champion to obtain views of the horn and carbide light and tank.
