These illustrations show a part of the airbrushing process. Wegee begins with sketches as shown above on the left. From that, line drawings are completed. Then templates are cut and used for the final airbrush process.
A lot of time goes into this technique, but the result is great. Wegee drew line drawings of almost every model produced in the 1911 production year. In the final drawing a scene that covers a whole city block with an original Marathon Motor Works facility is depicted. One can see that the final result provides a picture with rich detail and color.
